Spooky season has snuck up on us too quickly, and how it’s already autumn is beyond me. As one of our favourite times of the year in Liverpool, there are abundant things to do this Halloween. So, we have put together all the most gruesome, thrilling and chilling events into one place, and here’s a list of all the things to do this Halloween.
1. Go to an improv murder mystery comedy show
Murder (mystery) fans can get immersed in a side-splitting, unique show this Halloween. Murder Inc Improv is just what it says on the tin – a fully improvised murder mystery comedy show. The group is bringing their show, ‘Peri-Perished Chicken’, to Liverpool’s Arts Bar Studio 3 on October 31, inviting aspiring detectives to solve a bone-chilling case. Bring your best suggestions, too, as the actors will be tailoring the show based on the audience! You can book your tickets here.
2. Attend a pup-up cafe surrounded by adorable dogs
Dog lovers, assemble! The cutest Halloween event is coming to Liverpool, and it’s going to be overloaded with cuteness. Pup-Up Cafe is organising a Halloween event on October 20 at The Florist Bar & Restaurant inviting all (well-behaved) doggies to come together. Plus there is a special pug event, as well as a dachshund happening for breed-specific pop-ups. You can find the tickets here.
3. Get spooky with horror movie soundtracks surrounded by candlelight
Cinephiles and horror fans looking for things to do can get immersed in a unique Candlelight concert this Halloween. Candlelight: Horror Movie Soundtracks is bringing a sea of candles, a string quartet, a spooky atmosphere and unique covers, promising the most chilling event. Expect to hear the likes of Theme from The Shining by Wendy Carlos, “Suspiria” from ‘Suspiria’ – Goblin, “Lullaby” from Pan’s Labyrinth by Javier Navarrete and more. You can book your tickets here.
4. Travel to Scare City at an abandoned theme park
Scare City is returning for another year to the abandoned Camelot theme park, “bloodier” than ever. Visitors can expect plenty of chills and thrills during the immersive experience, including the Slaughter House, featuring Camelot’s resident cannibal and his annual dinner party. What is more, guests can step into a new zone for this year, ‘Arakhne’, a horrifying spider experience within a spider’s web. Launching on September 26 this year, Scare City is one of the best horror attractions in the North West. You can book your tickets here.
5. Embark on the Haunted Glasgow City Exploration Game
You can go off on an eerie journey around some of the haunted spots around the city. As one of the most bone-chilling things to do in Liverpool this Halloween, the Haunted Liverpool City Exploration tour sends you out on an adventure to discover the city’s dark past, full of unbelievable secrets. Starting at Lime Street Station, the 60-minute experience sends you to 11 different clues, each one more mysterious than the last. Book your tickets here.
6. Visit the UK’s scariest Halloween attraction in an abandoned asylum
Between October 4 and November 2, Newsham Park Hospital is turning into Newsham Scream Park, inviting guests for one of the scariest experiences of their lives. Expect scare mazes within the historic building, with previously hidden parts now open to visitors for the very first time. What is more, there will be more new additions this year, including the Horror Selfie Museum, street entertainment, stage acts and live music, huge food court and licensed bars, as well as tarot readers, mystics, fortune tellers and more. By the way, the hospital is said to be haunted, so be prepared for things unexplained. You can book your tickets here.
7. Have a blast at this Halloween-themed garage bingo experience
Garage fans, rejoice! Old school garage tunes will be played at UKG Bingo, alongside a good ol’ game of bingo. Players are encouraged to dress up in their best Halloween gear, and head to Modo on October 26 for a party like no other. Expect dance competitions, decent music, big prizes and just absolute madness. Book your tickets here.
8. Go pumpkin picking
The month of October is abundant with pumpkins all around, whether it’s pumpkin-spiced lattes or pumpkin decorations everywhere. Pumpkin picking is also a given, with plenty of farms in and around Liverpool offering pick-your-own experiences. You can check out our guide to find the best pumpkin patches here.
9. Feed rare breed animals, groom ponies and rabbits, take Halloween-themed pictures and pick pumpkins at this farm
Croxteth Park Farm is a rare breed farm in Liverpool where visitors can get some much-needed petting therapy from cuddly animals, as well as feed most of the animals. The farm is hosting their Half Term Halloween-themed event between October 26 and November 3, with a pumpkin patch, Halloween decorations and all the usual animal-themed activities.
10. Be a part of a demonic ritual, along with magic and storytelling
The Oracle Bar has hosted mystical events throughout the years, such as the sold-out seance. However, there are still tickets to ‘A Tale of Blood & Shadow’ between October 21 and November 6, which is filled with magic and storytelling, as well as a “demonic ritual”. The event will be performed by Kabir Singh, who is a travelling magician, and curated by the spot’s “top magic consultants”. You can book your tickets here.
