Whether it be spaghetti Bolognese or macaroni cheese, there’s nothing quite like a lovely comforting bowl of pasta to cheer us up. But what if you could enjoy a tasty pasta dish for free?
Luckily, to celebrate World Pasta Day one of Liverpool’s finest handmade pasta stores, Pasta 51 Express, has teamed up Italian cooking brand Napolina and online ordering platform Flipdish to hand out 2,551 portions of freshly made pasta. On Monday 25 October, Liverpudlians who visit the new store on Whitechapel can score themselves a free cone filled with artisan pasta to tuck into.
Securing a free artisan pasta cone is pretty straightforward, simply head to the Pasta 51 Express website here, register and visit the store between 12:00pm and 18:30pm to collect your pasta.
Italian owner Attilio Sergi – also known as the “pasta masta” from Puglia – and his team will be working in the kitchen from early morning to create their signature pastas and slow-cooked sauces from scratch. The pasta is made with durum wheat flour and water, and the handpicked ripened tomatoes from Napolina are grown on the sun-drenched Puglian slopes, for a rich and intense flavour, then served in a recyclable cone.
The owner Attilio Sergi said: “Pasta is a dish traditionally served in a seated restaurant, but Pasta 51 Express is changing this. Why should you not be able to enjoy handmade, fresh Italian pasta on the go? And why has Italian street food not had its moment yet? I want people to enjoy the food we make with love for free on this day and see just how sustainable ‘fast food’ can really be.
Plus, for customers heading to Pasta 51 Express after World Pasta Day, you can also expect 20% off your next order when you order directly from the restaurant. The pasta store serves many types of pasta from orechiette to tagliatelle as well as a range of sauces to accompany them.
