Aren’t we just the best? The answer is ‘yes’, and yet again, somebody has recognised that, naming Liverpool the most Christmassy city in the UK.
The study, conducted by Berkeley Group, looked at a range of criteria, including which cities were the most Instagrammable during the festive season. They also considered which cities were likely to have a white Christmas, and give that BBC weather has predicted snow for Liverpool on Christmas Day, we’re betting that boosted our score.
There are also tons of amazing things to do in Liverpool over the festive period, including visiting Liverpool Christmas market, watching pantomimes and admiring the stunning Christmas lights
Not only are we the best in the North, but the best in the country too! Liverpool scored 23.5 out of 45, just ahead of London, which scored 23. There were loads of surprising results:
1. Liverpool
2. London
3. Birmingham
4. York
5. Edinburgh
6. Durham
7. Chester
8. Wrexham
9. Lincoln
10. Nottingham
York is known for it’s Harry Potter style cosyness, especially at Christmas time but Liverpool still trumped the city. Birmingham was just behind London with 22.5 so they’re the best in the Midlands.
So why didn’t London, the capital after all, top the ratings? Well, it’s highly unlikely that London will have a white Christmas. Apparently it’s only had six white Christmasses since 1960!
It does have fourteen different Christmas light trails though! Birmingham has had a white Christmas 23 times in the last 60 years but it doesn’t have nearly as many light trails as London. However, Liverpool reigns supreme – the most Christmassy city in the UK!
