Salt Bae might have the steak lovers of Dubai eating out of the palm of his hand (almost literally), but here in Liverpool, it’s all about Etçi Mehmet.
Founded in Manchester just five years ago, Etçi Mehmet knows a thing or two about proper good meat – served with a side of theatre that you won’t find anywhere else in town. And the best part? No £9 glasses of coke like one particular unnamed steakhouse…
Bringing the Turkish steak experience for us Liverpudlians to enjoy, the menu is jam-packed with beef, beef and more beef, available in so many varieties that it’s actually pretty tricky to choose which dish to order. From fillet mignon to 24-carat gold beef burgers, Etçi Mehmet doesn’t do things by halves.
We’re really not talking your bog-standard dry steak that can be purchased at any old chain restaurant. No. We’re talking juicy, tender, 28-day dry-aged steaks that simply melt in the mouth, with simple flavours such as salt and rosemary bringing out the deep flavours of the beef.
For those who want to take the experience to the next level, their fillet mignon is prepared tableside – we’re talking fire, dancing, plenty of Turkish charm, and even the chance to have the first taste straight off the server’s knife.
Cooked in clarified butter and served alongside delicious Turkish bread, the steak joins a number of showstopping dishes on the menu – including 24-carat gold steaks and burgers, giant meatballs filled with cheese, and even sushi steak prepared tableside with literal fire sticks. Fancy, huh?
Originally opening in Manchester back in 2018, Etçi Mehmet has since found success in Liverpool and Birmingham, too, taking their epic Turkish steak experience national just last year. Move over, Salt Bae.
