One of our city’s most famous exports is, of course, our musical history. From famous visitors to our homegrown talent, Liverpool is rich in musical culture and heritage. While plenty of walking and city tours will have you visit locations like the Cavern Club and Strawbery Field, the British Music Experience brings together the musical history of both the city and the country under one roof. Take a walk down Penny Memory Lane with a visit to this museum.
What can you see at the British Music Experience?
Located on Liverpool’s Pier Head – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, dontcha know – the British Music Experience houses over 600 stage outfits, instruments, and artefacts. From Adele‘s handwritten song lyrics to outfits worn by Freddie Mercury, there is plenty to see. Contributions from the careers of The Spice Girls, Noel Gallagher, and the Sex Pistols all feature too. Alongside artist-led artefacts, you’ll also find the likes of original Brits statues, and the Apple Corp front door from Saville Row.
After you’ve browsed the British Music Experience’s artefacts, you’ll then have the chance to purchase your own memorabilia at the Merch Store: a range of gifts, clothing, books, and more, so you can recall your visit again and again. There’s also a cafe on site for refreshments.
The British Music Experience is suitable for all the family – in fact, children under age 5 get free entry – so grab the clan, and head on over for a magically musical afternoon.
