Veg out!
Veganuary has arrived and more and more people are getting involved in this month dedicated to going vegan. If you’re considering changing your dietary ways or just fancy a break from a meaty option, then check out our guide to some of the top vegan DIY kits that Liverpool restaurants are offering right now.
1. Biff’s
Biff’s has been named London’s best vegan junk food joint by a member of the Secret Media team – and rightfully so! Fortunately, these insanely talented chefs have created a couple of vegan DIY kits featuring their famous burgers to carry us through Veganuary with a touch of indulgence. You’ll have The Big Jack Kit (chicken-style jackfruit patties, vegan brioche buns and their top secret burger sauce) and The Father Jack (chicken-style jackfruit patties, bourbon BBQ sauce, onion rings and their infamous vegan bacun jam) to choose between – or better yet, treat yourself to both. Order yours here.
2. Rudy’s
If you still want a slice of the action but from your humble abode, pizza restaurant Rudy’s is delivering some fine bake at home pizzas to your door. The range includes a butternut squash base pizza topped with roquito peppers, green chillies, tender stem broccoli, red onions, basil, thyme and pine nuts – as well as vegan spins on popular pizzas Calabrese and Ortolana. Read more about their vegan pizzas here.
3. Honest Burgers
Honest Burgers have also launched a pretty irresistible range of burgers for us to recreate at home. You can choose either two or four vegan patties as part of this DIY kit, as well as smoked gouda ‘cheese’, Rubies in the Rubble chipotle ‘mayo’, Honest pickled cucumber, red onion, French’s mustard, burger buns from The Bread Factory (with gluten free buns available) and of course, instructions. You’ll also receive an Honest tote bag which you can don when you head out to do your essential shopping. Head to their website to order.
4. Lu Ban
Lu Ban Restaurant has launched a new online service, Lu Ban Kitchen, which offers a range of its Chinese dishes that are prepared by the Lu Ban team, before being shipped to customers across the UK in sustainable food-friendly packaging to heat at home. The ‘Heat-at-Home’ menu features some Chinese specialities which are vegan, including Chinese mushroom and pak choi dumplings, yin and yang hot and sour soup, faux duck and pancakes, ma po tofu, and fresh noodles. Each main serves two people and all of the dishes can be stored in the fridge for up to three days. You can order these dishes individually or enjoy as part of a vegan banquet box. The website is also home to the popular Lu Ban Cooks boxes priced at £10 and you can even create your own.
5. Green Haus By Home By Nico
A brilliant option if you’re new to the world of veganism – Six by Nico released their home kits during the first lockdown, becoming wildly popular with fans in just a matter of months. And as a result, fans can now enjoy their new concept, Green Haus, a vegan extension to their already fantastic monthly offering. This month, treat yourself to eight delicious courses – including Korean Gochujang carrots, chipotle five bean estofado, and pumpkin and orange cake. The boxes are super popular, so you’ll want to snap yours up quick.
