There is nothing like that wholesome smell of freshly baked bread, or the sight of soft, steaming croissants coming out of the oven. Liverpool is no stranger to decent bakeries, providing us with an abundance of choices throughout the city. As a result, the National Bakery Awards has shortlisted two Merseyside bakeries, alongside 224 other businesses, as the best in the UK, in for a chance to win the ‘Bakery Of The Year’ award for 2025.

The small shop is beloved for its cinnamon buns and the ever-changing selection of cakes, as well as its croissants.
Rough Handmade
Conveniently located on the Royal Albert Dock, Rough Handmade is a boutique bakery that takes flakiness to another level – the good kind in the form of pastry! Everything is made in-house, and by hand, as a decent bakery should, so no wonder Rough Handmade received the attention of the National Bakery Awards. What is more, you can watch the magic happen in a theatre-style kitchen, witnessing the skill and mastery of the bakers.
