The Mersey Tunnel 10k race is fast approaching, with many using the opportunity to practice for the London Marathon. As a result, the annual run requires the closure of the Mersey Tunnel, also known as the Wallasey Tunnel.
When is the Mersey Tunnel 10k?
The Mersey Tunnel 10k takes place on Sunday, April 12, starting at 9:30am, and celebrating its 20th anniversary, and the sold-out event will see over 4,100 racers this year.
The route
The Mersey Tunnel 10k commences just 250 metres before the tunnel on Blackstock Street, and later leaves the Tunnel via the Emergency exit on the left. After exiting the Tunnel, runners head over to Oakdale Road at 4K, while the 5K point (and water station) is now at the car park just behind the Mersey Ferry terminal on Birkenhead Road.

The second drinks station can be found at the 7K marker at the bottom of Manor Road, and the finish is now located on Ian Fraser Walk.
The race is a much-anticipated event by many, famous for its camaraderie and stunning vistas along the Seacombe Promenade.
