Coffee, cocktails and chilled vibes- what more could you ask for?

Opening in July 2021, this bar and coffee shop nestled in the city’s up-and-coming Fabric District rose from the ground upwards, both figuratively and literally. Having been forcibly pushed out of their old studio in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle last October, internet radio station Melodic Distraction fundraised over £36,000 via Kickstarter to build it’s new residence.

Transforming a bin yard into a new home for the radio station and it’s new venture with a coffee shop and bar, the Melodic Distraction team used what limited space they had by choosing to install recycled shipping containers and stacking these upwards. The top container houses Melodic Distraction’s radio studio and the bottom services the courtyard it sits on with coffee and a late night menu of beers, wines and cocktails.

Featuring a pergola, canopy and a good dose of fairy lights draped across the courtyard, Melodic Bar aims to act as a space for the local community to engage with the station, the music scene and the creative culture of Liverpool. The space is soundtracked by re-looped Melodic Distraction Radio shows, in addition to DJ and live sets from artists on the station’s roster.

Describing themselves as “a spot to escape the chaos, listen to good music and drink nice bevs”, Melodic Bar on Constance Street serves daytime coffees and hot drinks throughout the week, before transitioning into an evening and night time hangout later from Thursdays through to Sundays. Plus, sales from coffee and booze directly support the Melodic Distraction radio station, its hosts and the Liverpool’s music scene.

Melodic Bar serves up a range of coffee supplied by All Caps Coffee as well as loose leaf tea from Liverpool Tea Warehouse. In the evening, you’ll also find a selection of draft and canned beers , as well as mixing up cocktails such as Aperol Spritz, Negroni and even a Coffee Negroni.

With almost 700 individual backers on Kickstarter, this space is a product of Liverpool’s strong sense of grassroots community spirit. Melodic Bar provides a warm and welcoming hideaway from the busyness of the city centre and hosts a range of community-focused events including; music workshops, dances, art exhibitions, record fairs and events. And jazz lovers and chilled vibes seekers can rejoice as every Sunday, Melodic Bar hosts Jazz in the Alley, featuring live performances by jazz musicians.
