When the clocks went forward in March, it felt like an escape from the cold winter months (despite losing an hour of beauty sleep). Sunsets arrived after 7pm for the first time in six long months, spring flowers bloomed, and the temperatures slowly started to creep up.
April then brought us the first 8pm sunset of the year. A true sign of the seasons changing. Now, though, we’re looking forward to a real gamechanger: the first 9pm sunset of 2025, which will take place next month, on May 12.
Essentially, it marks the sign of summer being ushered into the city of Liverpool, opening the doors to a plethora of evening activities that can only be enjoyed at this time of year. Additionally, this year’s 9pm sunset comes just ahead of our late May bank holiday (May 26), which is a welcome little bonus. It almost feels like we’re getting extra time off. Almost…
Picnic while watching the sun leave for another day? Easy. Al fresco dining without having to worry about daylight leaving you? Check. Or what about post-work catch-ups in the sun? Done and done.
Imagine that: you can get a few rounds in after work with your colleagues and it’ll still be light! You could even find yourself hanging out in the beer garden all through the evening!
Whatever you like to do in the summer, the time is now, friends, and we’ve got two months of post-9pm sunsets to look forward to beforeit dips back under the horizon at 8:59pm on August 5.
The weather in Liverpool has even finally started to cooperate. We reckon it’s about time to get those deckchairs and barbecues at the ready so you can soak in those late sunsets.
