The best way to beat the heat in Liverpool is to enjoy a lovely cold pint on one of the city’s many waterside terraces (in our opinion, anyway). While you’re there, taking in the beautiful views that Liverpool has to offer you might as well treat yourself to a delicious al fresco meal and the places on this list serve up the tastiest grub in the perfect locations. So, without further ado, here are our top picks of incredible waterside terraces in Liverpool.
📍55 Hanover Street, L1 3DN
This tasty tapas spot by Beatles Story in the Albert Dock offers light bites perfect for warm afternoons in Liverpool. You can take yourself to the Med at Lunyalita with some tender calamari or a pincho de tortilla in the stunning sun terrace.
You can wash it all down with a refreshing vermut from Spain and we can’t think of any better way to spend an afternoon. The staff here are so friendly and helpful that you’ll feel right at home straight away.
2. Nova Scotia
📍25a Mann Island, L3 1BP
Did you know that there used to be a little village along the docks in Liverpool called Nova Scotia? Or that Canada and Liverpool has strong historic ties?
The new, chic waterside restaurant Nova Scotia pays homage to this wonderful link between the two cities of Nova Scotia in Liverpool, serving tasty food all day!
From the gorgeous waterside terrace you can see the Museum of Liverpool and enjoy a light bite alongside one of their irresistible signature cocktails. Ahhh, we feel more content just thinking about it. It’s a dog friendly and kid friendly restaurant so the whole family (including the furry ones) can enjoy it.
📍Albert Dock, L3 4AD
In a prime location on the Royal Albert Dock you’ll find Panam and there you’ll fall in love with the mezzanine waterside terrace. The menu consists of dishes from across the Americas so you can expect jambalaya, Peruvian chicken (mmmmm) and plenty of vegan dishes to satisfy everyone’s stomachs.
On weekends you can even enjoy bottomless brunch at Panam with free flowing bubbles and the decor will make you feel like you’re down in sunny Florida. After all, who doesn’t appreciate a waterside view with some lovely green palm fronds to look at?
📍Albert Dock Britannia Pavilion, L3 4AD
First of all, let’s just give Lerpwl a round of applause for the name (Welsh for Liverpool). It’s nothing compared to the food though. They serve the most exquisite, produce-led dishes so you know that every element on the plate is fresh, in season and therefore at its very best taste-wise.
Right now, the menu is super-summery and light and if you’re a fan of oysters then you just have to visit. Pair them with a glass of bubbles or one of their vibrant cocktails on the beautiful waterside terrace and your family will have to drag you out of there kicking and screaming as they close the shutters at the end of the day.
5. Peaberry Coffee House & Kitchen
📍Units 1/2a The Colonnades, Royal Albert Dock, L3 4AA
Peaberry started off as a little coffee house on the beautiful Royal Albert Dock and it was great then but now it’s even better. They serve lunch but the breakfast is to die for. Seriously, if you’re looking for breakfast around Royal Albert Dock then don’t even think twice about ordering from this friendly bunch of people.
From shakshuka to eggs florentine and even a super filling, super delicious vegan breakfast, they have a dish to satisfy any appetite and you can enjoy it all by the water on their stunning terrace.
📍30, Edward Pavilion, L3 4AF
It’s all about pizza, gin and beer at Turncoat and if that doesn’t convince you to visit then we don’t know what will. It’s the ultimate trifecta. On Thursdays you get pizza and lager for £10 and it’s bloody good pizza, mark my words.
It would be a pity not to try their gin, which is actually made at their own distillery (that’s your excuse). Plus, you can enjoy all of these delicious things on their beautiful waterside terrace.
So there you have it! When you want to head out and enjoy sitting by the water you can be sure to find good food, drink and gorgeous views at 6 of the best waterside terraces in Liverpool where al fresco dining is always incredible.
