Tomahawk steaks just got a golden glow up.
Just when you thought steak was luxurious enough, a Liverpool restaurant has taken it one step further (or more like 24k steps further) by given it a shiny and magnificent crust. Newly-opened steak restaurant, Bavette, in Woolton has added a boujee and extravagant steak to their menu which is covered in 24k gold leaf.
Bavette’s regular Tomahawk (which weighs between 650 to 750 grams and prepared on a flambé car) comes in at a reasonable price of £39, however their prime steaks covered in edible gold leaf have a heftier price tag. For the extra bling, whcih doesn’t affect the steak’s delicious flavour, comes in at a whopping £159.
The restaurant on Allerton Road describe this dish as “the most luxurious piece of meat in Merseyside” and is said to be a “Liverpool exclusive that has never been showcased in the city before”. As well as a gold-leaf encrusted Tomahawk, guests can enjoy a 24k gold fillet mignon for £129.
The menu at Bavette draws inspiration from America, Mexico and Cuba and features signature starters include beef sushi, grilled octopus and circassian chicken. As well as dry-aged steak, the main courses feature slow-cooked oven dishes like lamb shoulder and asado beef ribs.
And no steak is complete without some sensational sides and sauces. Bavette offers chips, sautéed potatoes, sautéed mixed vegetables, cheesy mushrooms, mashed potato and asparagus to be served alongside your steak of choice. Plus, you can select from four sauces such as classic peppercorn, cheese, mushroom or a Northern fave, gravy.
