Known as Titanic’s spiritual home, Liverpool has officially welcomed a noteworthy exhibition, showcasing its tragic maritime history. During the rare event, visitors can explore the physical artefacts that were left behind by “The Ship of Dreams”, uncovered from 2 kilometres underwater.
Showcasing between January 8 and March 10 at the magnificent Grade II listed building, The White Star Line Hotel on James Street, Titanic: in Focus: White Star Line Hotel offers a unique event, where guests can explore the ship’s history in an immersive opportunity within the walls of the former White Star Line headquarters, where the ship plans were conceived.
The exhibition explores the entire timeline of the Titanic, from its design phase to construction in Belfast, and from its departure to the ship’s untimely demise. What is more, visitors can witness a display of the Titanic’s discovery in 1985, showcasing numerous items brought back from the crash site 2 kilometres under the Atlantic Ocean.

One of the most noteworthy aspects of Titanic: In Focus: White Star Line Hotel is the fact that several items have never been displayed together in the North West.
“To bring these items back to 30 James Street is to complete a circle that began over a century ago,” says the exhibition’s lead curator. “This isn’t just a display of objects; it is a homecoming. Seeing these artefacts within the same wood-panelled rooms where J. Bruce Ismay and Thomas Andrews discussed the ship’s blueprints creates a powerful, almost electric atmosphere.”
The artefacts at Titanic: In Focus: White Star Line Hotel

- Wreckage Artefacts: A centrepiece of the collection is an intact wooden deck chair, which was recovered from the ocean surface by a cable ship in the days following the disaster.
- Wallace Hartley’s Sheet Music: The exhibition features a poignant fragment of sheet music belonging to Wallace Hartley, who played until his final moments.
- Personal Archives: Rare, handwritten letters and telegraphs showcase the human side of the crew and passengers.
