With every sultry saxophone note and trumpet cry, The Jazz Room in Liverpool takes you to the streets of New Orleans, where it all began. Although the city has had its fair share of jazz performers, from William Masters to Loretta Bird, this exciting jazz spectacle breathes new life into iconic songs by legends like Louis Armstrong, Herbie Hancock, Billie Holiday and Miles Davis with spontaneous improvisation for an evening of hot jazz, taking place at DISTRICT in the Baltic Triangle.

“The Jazz Room” is a journey to a dimly lit, 1920s New Orleans speakeasy. Over the course of 60 minutes, the show will blend classics and improvisation mastery, all performed by musicians who clearly know their stuff. With a drink in hand, guests can relish in a celebration of the history, the legacy and the beauty of hot jazz and more subgenres. You might even spill your drink when the performers launch into a blistering rendition of Herbie Hancock’s “Cantaloupe Island”!

Well, it all started in New Orleans at the turn of the 20th century, a melting pot of cultures, where African rhythms and call-and-response songs mingled with European harmonies and Caribbean beats. From this vibrant mix emerged a sound like no other. Ever since those early days, jazz has always been about freedom and breaking boundaries.
