Biting into a taco, feeling the dance of flavours kick in brings another level of comfort. Tacos are just the best, and now you can have a taste of Guadalajara at Picante in Liverpool.
Picante opened its doors in the heart of Cains Brewery Village this March, boasting a Mexican cantina with plenty of margaritas to go around. Owned by Joe Wild from Taco or Don’t, Kate Meehan (Gin Journey, Paloma Café, London), Sally Jo Whitlow (Jenny’s Bar) and Danny
Murphy, the spot spans across two floors in the former Dockleaf site.
Guests can expect a Guadalajaran-inspired food menu with six taco options, including Birria, Baja
Fish/Phish and Carne Asada. What is more, visitors can grab bar snacks, such as pickles, olives with grapefruit, and smoked salt, as well as add-on sides like bag-o-nachos and elote ribs.
Plus, the dessert selection is out of this world – the Churro Blondies with dulce de leche and vanilla ice cream are worth the calories. The spot also serves a Churro Blondie Tower, by the way!
What is more, there are frozen, classic and flavoured margaritas, including a rotating selection of over 40 tequilas and mezcals. Guests can also indulge in Mexican beers, and more classic options like beer on tap and cocktails.
Danny Murphy says: “Picante is the collective vision from Joe Wild, Kate Meeham, Sally Whitlow and myself. We’ve long wanted to create a Mexican cantina-inspired venue and the old Dockleaf site in Cains Brewery Village is the perfect place to bring this to life. Our food menu is focused on flavour-packed tacos and snacks alongside a wonderful range of agave-based cocktails and tequilas.
Agave is fast becoming one of the UK’s most popular spirits, and we’re channelling that in Picante and bringing the story to life, especially when we launch our masterclasses with Kate. Our aim is to create a high energy, fun and welcoming escape, perfect for the spring and summer months – Picante means spicy in Spanish, so we’re going to bring some much-needed heat to Liverpool.”
Picante is walk-ins only open Thursday to Sunday, so no need to book!
