The Isla Gladstone Conservatory: a historic setting in Stanley Park
Originally built in 1870, The Isla Gladstone Conservatory was commissioned to fulfill architect Edward Kemp’s vision of creating a place to escape to within Stanley Park. By the early 20th century, locals had seemed to forget about the conservatory and it was left mostly unused for over 100 years. However, in 2007, a £14 million investment helped return this impressive venue to its former glory. Since then, the sandstone pavilions and gorgeous walkways have been restored to make the conservatory a stunning centre piece of the park once again. Nowadays, the venue hosts a range of private and public events and the magnificent bandstand has provided hundreds of talented musicians with a stage to perform live music in.
