After a long night of counting, the votes are here. Liverpudlians flocked to polling stations to vote in the UK General Election 2024 yesterday (July 4), determining the future of the country. So, the results are in, and Labour triumphed across the UK.
Liverpool cast their votes to help decide who gets what seats in the parliament, consisting of five constituencies: Garston, Riverside, Walton, Wavertree and West Derby.
Over in Liverpool, Labour won five seats with a whopping 62.91% majority of the city’s votes, defeating all remaining parties. Reform UK got 11.53% of the total votes, while the Green Party came third on the list with 10.51% of the votes. Liberal Democrats came fourth with 5.16%, and The Conservatives only got 4.67% of the votes.
Garston
Maria Eagle from the Labour Party is the new elective in Liverpool Garston, who received a whopping 24,510 votes in the General Election 2024, making up 58.37% of the total numbers. Kiera Alice Hubbard got 4,406 votes taking second spot. A total number of 41,993 people came to vote in Garston out of the 69,282 registered on the Electoral Roll.
Riverside
Kim Johnson championed Liverpool Riverside with the Labour Party receiving 61.89% of the votes, making for 20,039. Chris Coughlan of the Green Party took the second spot with 5,246 votes, while only 32,381 people came to vote out of 71,380 in the Electorate.
Walton
Labour triumphed once again at Liverpool Walton, with Dan Carden receiving 70.57% of the votes in the UK General Election (26,032). 36,886 people turned up at the polling stations and by postal vote out of the 69,317 eligible to vote.
Wavertree
Paula Barker of the Labour Party dominated Liverpool Wavertree, with 23,077 votes out of 39,815. The Green Party was also second here, with Tom Crone receiving 6,773 votes.
West Derby
The Labour Party with Ian Robert Byrne in Liverpool West Derby took the last seat in the parliament with 25,302 votes, making for a Labour majority in the 2024 General Election. 69,934 are on the Electoral Roll in West Derby, and 38,006 cast their votes.
