Prepare to be dazzled.
The festive season isn’t far away and one way of knowing that the holidays are coming are when the Christmas lights in Liverpool are switched on. This Friday (November 12), Christmas will arrive in the city with Liverpool ONE hosting a night of festive fun in the lead up to the big day.
Liverpool ONE will be transformed into a magical festive wonderland with a little help from some life size squirrels, walking presents and tap-dancing turkeys! There will also be pop up pantos and a festive choir, plus a festive singalong led by Santa and Mrs Claus. Santa’s elves will also be in attendance keeping an eye on who’s naughty and nice.
There won’t be an official Christmas light switch-on event however Christmas shoppers and passers-by can enjoy the lights from November 12 as well as listen to music hosted by Radio City to set the scene. Also be sure to look out for walk-about acts including giant crackers and Christmas Belles.
Ensuring no one goes home empty handed, Liverpool ONE are working with The Mersey Forest and Liverpool City Council to distribute mini Christmas trees to take home and plant in your garden, increasing the tree coverage of the region and country. You can pick yours up from Upper South John Street on November 12, 21 and 28.
In addition to the Christmas lights at Liverpool ONE and to get us even more into the festive mood, this Friday will also see the return of Liverpool’s Christmas markets featuring around 40 stalls and from November 25, the lights on the big traditional Christmas tree on Church Street will be switched on.
