It’s a dark, cold November, and we’re all being asked to stay home – luckily, the Body Coach is back to help us get up and moving!
When the first UK lockdown hit and school children were sent home, the parents of nearly nine million children fretted about what to do with them, and how to keep them active. Happily Joe Wicks, aka ‘The Body Coach’, stepped in to help, by running daily PE classes streamed live on his YouTube channel that quickly became a hit for kids and adults alike. Now, with a second lockdown looming, Wicks has confirmed the return of his online classes, here to help all of us stay fit and happy. [Featured image: @thebodycoach]
Whereas previous sessions were geared towards children of all ages, and featured loads of basic exercises primed to burn some energy that made it a hit with desk-bound adults too, the new lessons will have more of a mood-boosting intent. As Wicks notes, “Our mental health is suffering but we can get through this lockdown together and come out stronger both physically and mentally”, and the new workouts are designed to do just that.
In a change from last time, the workouts won’t be live-streamed sessions that you follow along – instead, Wicks will film three a week, and put them on his YouTube channel every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6am, beginning on Monday November 9. Each session will be a brisk and bracing 15 minute energy and mood-boosting workout, which you can squeeze into a lunchtime or cudgel yourself into doing during that 4pm slump we’re all too familiar with.
