If you’ve not had the chance to try a pie from Homebaked you have been missing out, but luckily that opportunity to get a bite of their beautiful, buttery pastry is closer than you may think. The bakery with community at its heart has announced that it will be taking over the café at one of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings, St George’s Hall.
Homebaked Bakery has set up shop in St George’s Hall, bringing their delicious award-winning pies, mighty sausage rolls, handmade cakes, fresh bread, Caffe Riccardo coffee and more to the city centre location. Since opening their shop in Anfield in 2013, opposite Liverpool Football Club, Homebaked has become renowned not only for their tasty treats, but also for their commitment to giving something back to their community.
Angela McKay, Homebaked Bakery’s Operations Manager, said: “We are immensely proud to have the opportunity to bring Homebaked Bakery to one of our city’s most beautiful buildings – St George’s Hall. We pride ourselves on constantly moving the goalposts for what a community that comes together can achieve, and bringing our community business to the heart of our city centre is the next step. We look forward to what the future holds for the space.”
The bakery has helped to create job opportunities for local people and supporting foodbanks right through to providing food parcels for keyworkers and school children during the pandemic and raising awareness of mental health charities. It is hoped that the new city centre venture will attract a new customer base who will be able to enjoy high quality and affordable goods such as pies, sausage rolls, freshly baked bread, sandwiches, homemade soups and freshly ground coffee – all in the stunning surroundings of the Grade I listed building.
Some of Homebaked’s previous flavours of pies have included shankly (includes steak and bacon); chicken and veg; vegan scouse; and mushroom and brandy, to name a few. Plus, Liverpool FC manager, Jürgen Klopp, has even had a pie named after him.
Visitors can pop into Homebaked’s new location via the main entrance of St George’s Hall on Tuesdays to Saturdays, 8.30am -4pm, where you will not only find beautiful baked good but also some photos of their late great baker, Mark Loudon.
