One thing the pandemic has encouraged us to do more of is support local independent businesses, and with a market returning to Liverpool’s iconic Penny Lane this weekend, you can do exactly that. Following the success of their their market events over the past year, Good Liverpool has teamed up with The Dovedale Towers pub once again to host another independent market on June 12.
Located on the world-renowned street in Wavertree, the GOOD Market will take place at The Dovey (as it’s affectionately known) and with a week until Father’s Day (June 19) it’s the perfect opportunity to bag a gift for your dad or father figure. The market, which runs from 11am-4pm, will include 18 independent businesses, food & drink provided by the Dovedale team, with DJ’s Coffee & Turntables providing the music.
Better yet bring him along to choose out his gift. With a wide array of pints, pies, Freddie Mercury trivia, The Dovedale Towers is a dad-friendly spot if we’ve ever seen one. You can come and pick up Father’s Day cards, LFC prints, hot chilli sauce, alcohol, and every sweet treat under the sun.
And, in the spirit of doing good, this coming event sees Good Market join forces with Open Door, Allerton. The shop supports The Whitechapel Centre, a leading homeless and housing charity for the Liverpool region.
Between 2020 and 2021, the charity worked with almost 4,000 people, all of whom were homeless, socially excluded or in housing poverty. With a goal to ensure individuals do not slip through the net of provisions, The Whitechapel Centre work 365 days a year to offer dedicated support to those in difficult situations.
The GOOD Market brings together the city’s best and brightest independents under one roof, celebrating what it means to support local business. If the weather predictions are to be trusted, it’s set to be a gloriously sunny day, so get down, bring the family, support independent and did we mention that the venue is dog friendly?
