Beavertown Brewery, have been inspired by the oft-told story of Picasso paying for a meal with a doodle on a napkin, and they’re offering you the chance to do the same. Or, at least, to pay for a pint. Not quite a full meal. On September 3 and 4, across Liverpool, special beer mats will be on offer for anyone to scratch out an out-of-this-world doodle in exchange for a refreshing pint of Beavertown’s lager, Bones.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a proper da Vinci, or if even you have a hard time figuring out what it is you’ve drawn (is it a butterfly? Or a hot dog?). Anyone can exchange their beer mat doodle for a free beer. Taking inspiration from the brewery’s new “Out of this World Beer. Drank on Earth” ad campaign, they’re asking for equally out of this world doodles. It could be a moonscape, an astronaut, a spaceship, or an alien abduction. It’s up to you.
Beavertown’s Creative Director, Nick Dwyer said:
“I love this project because literally anyone can draw if they have a pen. Drawing, doodling, sketching – it’s great for the brain, and should absolutely be used as currency in the event of nuclear annihilation… because then I could be king. Failing that, using it to pay for our beer is also good!”
The beer-for-doodles exchange is running at Dog House, 15-17 Church Rd, Liverpool, L15 9EA, so head down at the weekend and see if you can score yourself a free pint!
