Going on holiday usually takes a considerable amount of planning and resources, yet people have been recently getting around the resources issue and going on 24-hour mini-getaways. Thankfully, whether it’s a meal out with your pal or a romantic picnic in a dreamy location, adventurers can hop on this trend, as the cheapest destinations to travel to from Liverpool John Lennon Airport have been revealed, too!
Late Rooms did a study on the cheapest destinations for 24-hour holidays from airports across the UK, including Liverpool. The cheapest places to travel to were based on flight price, flight time, the number of flights per day, lowest rainfall, closest destination to its airport, average meal prices and most cultural places of interest, as well as demand for content on TikTok.
Dublin, Alicante and Faro topped the list for Liverpool John Lennon Airport. While Dublin is not that exotic for people in the UK, Faro certainly is!
While Faro has a longer flight time in comparison to other places at around 190 minutes, travellers can secure flights for a thrifty £254pp with up to four flights a day from Liverpool. The Portuguese city boats more than a dozen cultural points of interest, such as the infamous Old Town and Igreja de Santa Maria. What is more, visitors can dine out for a reasonable price of around £38.47 for a restaurant meal for two.
As for getting to the city from the airport, Faro Airport is 6.7 kilometres away from the centre, making the transfer time short and sweet in comparison to many other European destinations. The area also gets an average rainfall of 505mm per year, so a sunny city break is pretty much guaranteed at a decent price from Liverpool.
Those wanting to go to the beach on top of exploring Faro’s charming Old Town can take a short ferry ride to Praia de Faro (Mar). It also helps that most travellers do move onto to other places in the region of Algarve, so the city of Faro is not as touristy, offering both small-town and big-city vibes.
