It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and Liverpool has been decked out in twinkling lights for us to marvel at, as well as plenty of Christmas markets to explore. However, what if we told you Brimstage Hall & Courtyard is bringing its first-ever Christmas market to its historic grounds this weekend, boasting all the festive treats we all know and love.
Located in Wirral, just 25 minutes from Liverpool, Brimstage Hall & Courtyard is part of the Leverhulme Estate, where nowadays guests can find a number of boutique shops, a restaurant and a coffee shop. And this year, the iconic spot is hosting its first Christmas market organised by Curate Co, which is also behind markets like Oxton Village Market and Port Sunlight Village Market.
The enigmatic history of Brimstage Hall & Courtyard

Brimstage Hall & Courtyard was originally built between 1175-1350, and no one really knows why. However, there are speculations that the structure existed before this date. What is more, the building was used by Sir William Troutbeck during the War of the Roses from 1439, who was killed in the Battle of Blore Heath in 1459.
The most enigmatic part of its history is the human bones discovered in a well by a group from Cambridge University in 1957, who stumbled across the old, unused well under an old house.
Today, Brimstage Hall & Courtyard offers a charming retail and dining attraction for a day out, while retaining its 12th-century allure.
The Brimstage Hall & Courtyard Christmas market
The Christmas market is taking place on December 14 between 10am and 4pm, promising an excitement-filled day with plenty of local vendors and stalls from the surrounding area to explore. What is more, guests can expect “award-winning delicacies, international cuisines, artisan festive gifts, handcrafted items, freshly cooked hot food, mulled drinks, sweet treats and plenty more”.
Plus, there will be live music and entertainment in the courtyard, boasting a festive atmosphere for some well-deserved quality time with loved ones. Entry is free, and the venue is dog-friendly; those arriving by car should have plenty of parking space.
A spokesperson for Curate Co said: “If you’re looking for a Sunday filled with community spirit, Christmas magic, fantastic food, unique gifts, and a truly stunning setting, then the Brimstage Christmas Market is not to be missed. Wrap up warm, gather your loved ones and come along this Sunday.”
