Our city has been fortunate enough to witness the green hues of the Northern Lights last year, captivating the night sky. However, Liverpudlians can witness the natural phenomena like never before this March from today (March 20), with Borealis, a world-famous art installation, taking over Liverpool’s waterfront.
Borealis has popped up at the Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool between March 20 and 30 for the very first time. The free exhibition is kicking off on the first day of Spring, and concluding on the day the clocks go forward.

The attraction is created by Dan Acher using “technology and the elements”, with beams of light travelling through cloud particles. In turn, this creates an illusion of the Northern Lights, depending on the weather on the day, such as wind variations, humidity and temperature. As a result, visitors will never get the same experience.
Borealis has taken over the world by storm, having been displayed in over 40 cities across Europe, Australia, Asia and the US, like Tokyo, Melbourne and Paris. And now, Liverpool is added to its long list! Moreover, there is now a permanent installation in Singapore after the exhibition has seen immense success.

The experience can be found at the dock’s Hartley Quay, offering an immersive experience with the stunning backdrop of Liverpool’s iconic waterfront. Over the ten days, art lovers can take in the stunning views accompanied by the soundtrack by French composer Guillaume Desbois, making it a multi-sensory adventure.
There is no need to book anything, just show up and enjoy the free immersive art installation during the dark hours open between 7pm and 10pm!
