Everyone experiences life’s ups and downs, no matter who they may be. Whether you’re rich or poor, famous or not, young or old, life will present its own unique challenges. ‘Blood Brothers’ musical explores the delicate nature of life and death, following a story of two twins separated at birth.
Bill Kenwright’s award-winning ‘Blood Brothers’ is coming to the Empire Theatre between March 11 and 22, 2025. Vivienne Carlyle returns to the iconic role of Mrs Johnstone, Sean Jones and Joe Sleight return to the production as twins Mickey and Eddie, with Gemma Brodrick reprising the role of Linda.

Set in Liverpool, ‘Blood Brothers’ follows the life of two families from polar opposite socioeconomic backgrounds, with twin brothers separated at birth. The twin’s biological mother is a poor single barely scraping by, while the twin’s adoptive mother is a rich socialite who struggled to have children of her own.
The brothers end up being friends despite of their mother’s wishes before meeting tragic fates, showcasing life’s ups and downs, first love, forbidden love and the differences in challenges the two boys face.
Written by Willy Russell and directed by Bob Tomson & Bill Kenwright, ‘Blood Brothers’ boasts an emotional musical repertoire accompanied with excellent acting. Spectators can expect to hear songs like A Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally-charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.
Overall, the musical will compel the audience to give an effortless standing ovation after getting completely immersed in the musical tragedy.
