“Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!” ‘Back To The Future’ The Musical has not only ‘invented something that finally works’, but is also coming to Liverpool in 2027 as part of a warmly welcomed UK tour.
Opening at Bristol Hippodrome from Thursday, October 8, 2026, to Saturday, November 21, 2026, ‘Back To The Future’ The Musical brings time-travelling to life, showing that everything is possible when one puts their mind to it.
The tour continues to the Edinburgh Playhouse over the festive period, from December 2, 2026, to January 2, 2027, before moving on to the Liverpool Empire from January 12, 2027, to February 6, 2027.
The musical is based on the cult classic sci-fi film by Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment that a lot of us grew up with. The plot follows teen Marty McFly and his scientist friend Doc Brown, who are taken back in time to the 50s after Doc’s successful time-travelling invention. With plenty of existentialist intrigue, the pair must make sure Marty’s parents still fall in love, or he will cease to exist.
Spectators can ponder over the power of a single life choice and free will, the power of friendship, courage, standing up to bullies and the complexity of The Butterfly Effect.
However, ‘Back To The Future’ The Musical boasts brand new music written by Emmy and Grammy Award-winning Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy Award-winning Glen Ballard, with additional songs from the film, including The Power of Love and Johnny B. Goode. The show is directed by Tony Award-winning director John Rando alongside a stellar production team.
